Unity in the Community,
A Thanksgiving Day Celebration
First Tennessee Pavilion
(across from Finley Stadium)
1826 Carter Street
10am-2pm
Area organizations, and the Dept. of Education, Arts & Culture, are teaming up this year to feed those in need. We anticipate feeding Thanksgiving Dinner to approximately 1000 people. Area artists & entertainers will be sharing their talents and performing on stage.
Participating agencies include: the Salvation Army, Community Kitchen, Olivet Baptist Church, Brainerd Baptist Church, Forest Avenue United Methodist Church, North River Vineyard Church, and Southern Baptist Disaster Relief.
On Thanksgiving Day, Volunteers will sign in at the registration table upon arrival. T-shirts will be distributed for the volunteers for ease of identification. If we have more folks than we need for the childrens's area, there will be plenty of opportunity to help. The children's area is not childcare...the parents will be remaining with the children while they do arts and crafts projects.
It is being estimated that this event will require over 200 volunteers. NRVC is responsible for the childrens art/play area. This is a church wide project. LaDonna Spruill is coordinating volunteers from our church. If you would like to participate, please contact LaDonna at 645-6547 or email ladonna.spruill@gmail.com. If you know that you will be attending, please go ahead and let LaDonna know so that we can plan accordingly.
For those of you with family plans. . .we wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!
